Fjallraven have given more than a nod to the past with this Special Edition Greenland Uncle Jacket, using the same cut as founder Ake Nordin used for the original Greenland Jacket, which he made from a durable tent fabric back in 1968. This is a modern interpretation of that jacket and has some really lovely modern features. The side pockets weren’t on the original jacket, being added into the design in the 1970’s.

The highlight for me in this modern version is the leather trim on the cuffs and hood. Isn’t it lovely? I love the look and feel it gives the Greenland. The special edition is a two tone blue jacket, and they could have used blue for the leather trim, but going with the brown leather gives it a lovely finish. Really stylish and durable.

This jacket itself is wind and rain proof, incorporating Fjallravens G-1000® fabric, and is made from recycled polyester and organic cotton, which is great for those who value the new breed of manufacturer who are doing everything they can to produce ecologically friendly clothing.

The fabric can also be waxed, but remember, if you are going to do this, it will lengthen the life of the jacket, but it removes the breathability if you were going to use it for hiking or climbing.

This really is a lovely piece, a definite classic from Fjallraven and would be a winner in your wardrobe. Click on  the button below and get it added to your collection today.
