Snow Peak is a Japanese outdoor label started in 1958 by Yukio Yamai, an accomplished mountaineer, who, like many before and since, who decided to make his own gear after being let down by the products on the market.

Having a read of their website, I came across this which they just nailed. It reads

“Today we strive to create products that inspire people to enjoy the outdoors, we seek harmony between people and nature, and we look to manufacturer with such high quality standards that you’ll pass on to the next generation like a great wrist watch”

Oh come on now, if that’s doesn’t get you excited nothing will. What a statement! You know this lot mean business.

They’re aiming high but when you see items like the Rain and Wind resistance parka you get the feeling that they are going to be able to back up their statement.

This parka is very light weight, made of a ripstop nylon durable water repellent finish, and an acrylic coating which blocks out the wind, perfect for spring right through to the last days of summer.

A chest pocket and two lower hand pockets gives you adequate storage, with the pockets being nicely highlighted with trim.

The hood has an elasticated drawstring, and the cuffs are elasticated, with the added feature of thumbholes when the weather turns decidedly worse. Oh and did I mention there’s a stow pocket in the back for it all to fold away nicely in? Yes its got that covered as well.

  1. Hello,I was searching the internet looking for warm, wind and water resistant jackets or some warm clothing as it is winter here and I stumbled across your website.
Looking at the “Snow Peak”Parka Jacket I am quite interested in purchasing some of your jackets.
I was wondering do you ship your products to ,Australia?
I was wanting to know the price for a medium size parka jacket?

  2. I’m liking this Snow Peak Parka….. I live in Northern Ireland and it can get a tad wet every now and then (always!). I also have a Doberman who needs a lot of exercise. Unfortunately she also doesn’t like to meet ‘others’ on her walks so we tend to bring her up to forests to walk her. These are up in the hills and it can be raining even when it’s not raining anywhere else. The last two days have been wet and muddy haha! Waterproofs are all very well, but windproof… well that sells it! Our winds are sharp and COLD! And not all waterproofs will protect you from the bite of the wind. I’ve just clicked on your link (July ’16) and the price has been reduced to £161… nice!! 🙂 Great post 🙂
