In 1954, ex-Royal Marine Noel Bibby founded Peter Storm, who specialised in waterproof nylon rainwear. In the early 1960’s he is credited with inventing the cagoule.
A cagoule is a long waterproof garment with a hood, but no front zip – an over-the-head design, named after the French word for a hood.
Noel died in 1989 and the rights to the brand were bought by the Blacks Leisure group, who subsequently sold it to JD Sports
Peter Storm now produce footwear, trousers, fleeces, t-shirts, socks, walking boots and more for men, women and kids
